Understanding Lox Mohair

This carpet is woven using Lox — a unique and character-rich variety of mohair. Unlike the smooth, uniform fibres typically associated with mohair, Lox stands out for its naturally stained, uneven specks of dark hair found on the Angora goat. These darker strands occur organically and give the fibre a beautifully variegated texture and tone, resulting in a distinctive visual depth.

Lox mohair often retains plant materials — such as tiny twigs, seeds, and natural thorns — which become entangled in the fibres during the goat’s life on the veld. These natural inclusions are intentionally spun into the yarn, preserving the authenticity and wild charm of the material. Rather than being a flaw, each embedded seed or thorn is a testament to the handmade, artisanal process.

Use

Ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, entranceways, or any area where artisanal beauty and practical durability are equally valued.

Care Instructions

Spot clean with a damp cloth or dry clean for best results. For light washing, handwash gently with mild soap and cold water. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Do not use harsh chemicals or pressure washers.

Handmade Note

Each Nora Lox carpet is individually handwoven and made to order. As a result, slight variations in colour and texture are a natural characteristic of the craft and add to the uniqueness of your piece. Please allow 4–6 weeks for production and delivery. Delivery via Pudo or The Courier Guy.
