Discover more in our FAQ
Can my mohair carpet be redyed?
No, our mohair is dyed before the yarn is woven. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to dye a completed carpet.
How do I clean the cotton tassels?
Our carpets are finished with undyed, hand-knotted cotton tassels. These can look grimy over time even if the carpet stays clean. Simply soak the tassels separately in warm water with mild detergent or washing powder. If you prefer, carpets can also be ordered without tassels—finished with a neat woven edge
instead.
How do I wash my mohair carpet?
You can wash the carpet at home using soap and water. Lay it flat on a deck or patio, wet it thoroughly with a hose, scrub gently with warm water and hair shampoo or Woolite, then rinse and hang to dry over a railing or table. Choose a warm, windy day—your carpet will dry in 24 hours. It may look uneven at first but will settle flat again after a few days of use.
Can I request a custom colour?
Yes. We can dye any colour of your choice for orders of 10kg or more (our minimum dye bath size). A custom dye fee of R500 per colour applies.
Can I request my own design?
Yes. Most of our carpets are made to order and can be adapted in design, colour, and size. You may also submit your own pattern—we’ll evaluate it for suitability and advise on design costs for one-off or exclusive work. For design help please contact us.
Where can I see your carpets in person?
Visit our shop at Rosehill Mall in Port Alfred for a wide selection. You can also see our carpets at Mohair South Africa in Walmer, Port Elizabeth or at our factory in Dimbaza, where you’re welcome to view the full process of spinning, weaving, and finishing. Please arrange a factory visit by contacting us. We also share updated pictures on our social media.
Do you export internationally?
Yes! We supply both retailers and individual customers across the world including the US and Germany. Our carpets offer exceptional value for their quality and performance in international markets.
